Carolyn Rother Ross

October 18, 1941 - August 23, 2026

Carolyn Rother Ross lived her life with a wonderful sense of humor, and an undeniable love of having a good time. She loved to laugh, loved to talk, and rarely met a stranger. Whether traveling somewhere new, sitting down at a card table, playing the piano, working in her garden, or simply enjoying a gathering of family and friends, Carolyn brought energy and personality wherever she went.

Born in Fletcher, Oklahoma, to Lucille and William Rother, Carolyn’s life took her to many places across the country. She married Jay Collier, with whom she had three children, Kim, Kirsten and Jamey. After living in several parts of the country, Carolyn eventually made Denver, Colorado, her home.

Carolyn had an adventurous and competitive spirit. She loved to travel and was an avid card player who took her games seriously enough to enter poker tournaments. She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano, and she was always ready for a party or an opportunity to have some fun. Those fortunate enough to have tasted her German chocolate cake or pound cake also knew that Carolyn had a few specialties in the kitchen that will be especially missed.

Carolyn shared many years of her life with her partner, Mike McMullen, and became an important part of his family as well. She and Mike helped raise his grandson Michael during his early childhood, creating a bond that continued long after those early years. Carolyn's extended family also included Mike's daughter Kelly; his son Mike and wife Rachael; and grandson Aiden. Her beloved dog, Rosie, held a particularly special place in Carolyn's heart and was rarely far from her side.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Kim and Kirsten; her son, Jamey and his partner, Jen; her grandchildren, Chaise, Gray, Ashley, Kyle, Alex, Sam and Zara; and her great-grandchildren, Leo, Reid and Laine. She is also survived by her brother, Mike Rother, her partner Mike McMullen, and the extended family who became an important part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and William Rother.

Carolyn will be remembered for her quick wit, her feisty spirit, her love of conversation, and especially her laughter. She enjoyed people, she enjoyed an adventure, and she believed life was meant to include some fun. Those who knew Carolyn will have plenty of stories to tell, and undoubtedly, plenty to laugh about as they remember her.
