Kimberly Sue Prussia (Martin)
November 1, 1968 - June 16, 2025
Kim Prussia, age 56, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away on June 16, 2025, after a sudden and brief battle with cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
Kim was a lifelong competitor and fighter in every sense of the word. An athletic and driven student growing up, her world changed just before her 16th birthday when a car accident left her with a spinal cord injury at the thoracic 4, 5, and 6 level. But true to her spirit, Kim never let that define her. With grit and determination, she began her rehabilitation journey at Craig Hospital in Colorado—a place and experience that would help shape the rest of her life.
In the years that followed, Kim poured herself into adaptive sports and went on to compete on the world stage. She was a proud member of the U.S. Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team, earning a silver medal at the 1992 Paralympic Games in Barcelona and a bronze at the 1996 Games in Atlanta. She also represented the United States in other international competitions throughout her career, earning recognition and respect both on and off the court.
Kim earned her undergraduate degree from Wright State University and went on to receive her master’s from Southern Illinois University. While at SIU, she served as head coach of the men’s wheelchair basketball team, leading them to the NCAA tournament—a testament to her leadership and love for the game.
Kim’s accomplishments extended far beyond sports. She was a passionate advocate, mentor, coach, and professional who inspired others through her work ethic, resilience, and unwavering positivity.
She was the proud middle child of five siblings born to Carol and Raymond Dale Martin, and is preceded in death by her parents, and her father-in-law Bill Prussia. Kim is survived by her husband, Scott, and daughter, Abbi, along with her siblings: Terri, David (Mindy), Christy (Aaron) and Ken (Julie). She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews who brought her great joy, her mother-in-law, Patty Prussia, who held a special place in her heart and her loyal pup, Winnie.
Of all her achievements, Kim was most proud of her daughter, Abbi. She was Abbi’s fiercest advocate, biggest fan, and unwavering guide—always reminding her just how deeply loved she was. Kim also shared a strong, playful, and devoted bond with her husband, Scott. She loved him deeply, even if she gave him a hard time just for sport. Their connection was full of humor, loyalty, and partnership in its truest form.
Kim’s legacy is one of perseverance, love, and fierce dedication to her family, her teammates, and her community. She loved boldly, gave generously, and lived fully.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kim’s name to The Craig Hospital Foundation or contribute to Abbi’s College Fund.
