Courtney F. Isselhardt
June 15, 2025
Courtney Isselhardt, known as ‘Corky’, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025. He was 82 years old.
Corky was born in New York City. As a young boy he moved to the Bay Area for the early part of his life attending California State University, Hayward earning a BS in Physical Science/Geology and an MA in Geology from the University of California, Berkeley.
Corky spent his career as an Exploration Manager for various Oil and Gas and Geothermal Companies both domestically and internationally. Corky transferred to Colorado in 1991, where he met his wife, Terry. They spent 3 years in Jakarta and 4 years in Florida and then back to Colorado for the next twenty five years; most recently in Evergreen and Columbine Valley, Colorado.
Corky is survived by his wife Terry Isselhardt. He is also survived by his three children and two stepchildren and their families, including spouses, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: Lisa Isselhardt Meltzer (Dave, Mona, Max); Erica Isselhardt Blomquist (Rich, Aubrey, Dominic & Elliott); Brett Isselhardt (Kelly, Grady, Laine, Callen); Chris Ables (Talyn, Jaydn); and Todd Ables (Joni, Adelyn, Brylie).
Corky had a deep love for the water; scuba diving and snorkeling were his favorites. He also played Rugby in college and as an adult for a few years. He spent a couple of years trying his hand at growing pinot noir grapes and chasing gophers in Salem, Oregon. He volunteered at Habitat for Humanity in Evergreen and loved every minute with the wildlife while living there. In the past several years, Corky was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia with aphasia which made the Evergreen property maintenance unsustainable. Eight years ago, we moved to Columbine Valley with reduced maintenance, however this uncurable disease progressed aggressively this past month. We are eternally grateful that he is no longer frustrated and in pain.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations to the FTD Bluefield Project, researching a cure for frontotemporal dementia with aphasia, be made in his honor.
