Mel Thompson

February 17, 1937 - April 28, 2025

Melvin Dean Thompson, a longtime resident of Broomfield, Colorado, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Boone, Iowa, on February 17, 1937, Mel lived a life filled with a passion for the great outdoors and cherished these moments with his family.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Peggy Thompson; his daughters, Heather Thompson, Kimberly Grassy, and Christina Thompson; his brother, Jerry Thompson; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Thompson.

Mel's heart belonged to the Rocky Mountains, whether he was chasing a bugling elk or casting a line for rainbow trout. His skill and respect for nature were evident. These weren't just hobbies for Mel; serene sunrises reflecting on life among the lakes and rivers were integral parts of who he was. His stories of adventure and the beauty of the landscapes he explored will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
