Gary Giberson

July 5, 1943 - April 4, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frisco, Colorado, resident Gary Giberson, who left us peacefully on April 4, 2025, at the age of 81, after a courageous second battle with cancer. Gary was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his love for his family was the cornerstone of his life.

Gary was the son of Donald Kenneth and Burdena White Giberson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Giberson. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gloria Giberson (née Johnson); his sons, Clint Giberson and Dennis Giberson; his daughter, Shelley Giberson and son-in-law, Ron Carmichael; his grandchildren Henry and Calvin Giberson, and Liam, Chloe, and Christian Carmichael; his grand-daughter-in-law-Tyler Rechel; and his great-grandson, Joey Giberson.

Gary came from a family of true Summit County, CO pioneers. His grandfather, Wibert “Web” Giberson, arrived in Summit County in 1895 at the age of 17; his grandmother, Elizabeth “Mollie” McDonald, was born in Leadville in 1883. Together, they homesteaded the Giberson Ranch in 1909 where they raised their children.

Gary grew up in Colorado Springs and spent his professional years living and working for IBM in Boulder, CO and Austin, TX. His sharp mind and unwavering work ethic were evident throughout his career, but it was his integrity and warmth that truly set him apart. Gary moved back to Summit County in retirement and devoted his later years to serving as the general partner of the family partnership dedicated to preserving the family’s ranch and natural spaces as an unspoiled Colorado treasure.

Gary’s dedication to his loved ones was unmatched, and he will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and joy in spending time with those he held dear. He was a constant source of support, wisdom, and love, and his presence will be deeply missed.

A service will be held in Gary’s honor at Giberson Preserve in Frisco, CO on July 5, 2025.
