Chris Michael “Mike” Weir
December 14, 1947 – April 11, 2025
Chris Michael Weir, known to all as Mike, passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2025, surrounded by his wife, son, and daughter. He was 77 years old.
Mike was born on December 14, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee. As the son of an Air Force family, they moved often throughout his childhood, but he recalls spending formative years in Sleepy Hollow, Virginia and Tokyo, Japan. It was at age 16, when his family relocated to Colorado, that Mike found what he considered his true home—and where he met the love of his life, Patti Abbott, at Cherry Creek High School. The two were married in 1970, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, adventure, and deep devotion.
Mike attended prep school at the United States Air Force Academy and later studied at the University of Colorado Boulder. A passionate aviator, he earned his private pilot’s license and turned his love of flight into a distinguished career with United Airlines that spanned nearly four decades. In 1976, he and Patti became the first married couple hired as flight attendants by the airline—a point of pride and a symbol of their remarkable bond.
Mike had a deep love for baseball and golf, especially enjoying time on the course with his son and brothers. He was a man of great warmth, intelligence, humor, and kindness. Above all, he was a devoted husband and a truly exceptional father—supportive, loving, and always present.
He was the third of four sons born to Gordon and Betty Weir and is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Tom. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patti; his daughter, Amanda, and son-in-law, Ian; his son, Todd, and daughter-in-law, Robyn; and his brothers, Chuck and Pete. His memory will also live on in the many friends, colleagues, and extended family members who cherished him.
Mike’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. He was so proud of his family and loved them from the bottom of his heart.
He will be missed deeply and remembered always.
