Cary Sully

March 30, 1945 - October 20, 2025

Cary William Sully, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully from natural causes on October 20, 2025. A devoted father, loyal friend, and respected community leader, Cary lived a life defined by creativity, determination, humor, and an unmistakable sense of style that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Born on March 30, 1945, in Rockford, Illinois, to William (Bill) and Hazel Sully, Cary grew up with a deep appreciation for hard work and an insatiable curiosity about the world around him. While attending the University of Kentucky, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Journalism, Cary became an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. His involvement in Sigma Chi was a wonderful experience, allowing him to make lifelong friendships and connections that would enrich him throughout his life. Cary cherished his time at Kentucky, especially when cheering on his beloved Kentucky Wildcats basketball team.

Cary’s creativity and sharp intellect led him into a remarkable career in marketing, where he partnered with some of the world’s most recognizable brands, including McDonald’s, Pepsi, and many others. His ability to combine business acumen with creative vision made him a trusted advisor and an influential leader in his industry. In addition to his corporate success, Cary was an entrepreneur who brought the same energy, innovation, and optimism to his own ventures.

A lifelong supporter of community and athletics, Cary was proud to have been part of Rotary International and the U.S. Olympic Committee, where he contributed his expertise and passion to advancing sports and athlete development. His love of competition and excellence extended well beyond the professional arena. He was an enthusiastic fan of college basketball and an avid Formula 1 racing follower, relishing the speed, strategy, and spirit of the sport.

Throughout his life, Cary called many places home, including Oklahoma City, Arkansas, Toronto, Philadelphia, and Dallas, before ultimately settling in Denver, CO, where he delighted in being close to his grandchildren. Wherever he lived, he built community, forged friendships, and inspired those around him with his humor and quick wit.

Above all, Cary was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Chase (Samantha), and grandsons Matthew and Beau of Denver, CO; his daughter, Lauren (Robert), of Carbondale, CO; and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who will forever remember his laughter, creative storytelling, quick wit, and friendship.

A private family service will be held to honor Cary’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends and loved ones to share their favorite memories of Cary or cheer for the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team in his memory.
