About The Park People
The Park People is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit working with communities to plant trees and improve parks for a healthier, more resilient future for Denver.

The Park People has grown a robust set of urban forestry programs that engage our whole community - individuals, neighborhood groups, schools, businesses, and other partners - in planting and stewarding our neighborwoods.
Planted in partnership with Denver Parks & Recreation, these living memorials grow more meaningful with each season. The Park Legacy Program is a partnership between The Park People and Denver's Office of the City Forester.

Engraved Pavers Included
Each memorial includes an engraved paver, set within the Hazel Gates Woodruff Tribute Garden in Washington Park. Engraved with your loved one's name, it joins a garden built for pausing, remembering, and reflecting — a place your family can visit for years to come.

A commemorative plaque is included with your memorial tree, but it will not be at the same location as your tree. All commemorative plaques are installed at the Hazel Gates Woodruff Tribute Garden in Washington Park.
Because of theft, vandalism, and tree maintenance, it is against park policy to install plaques or memorial markers at the sites of the Tribute Trees. However, your tree will be marked with a temporary tree tag for its first few years. You will also receive a Tree Certificate in the mail after planting has occurred.

Our trained celebrant will work with you to schedule a date following the tree planting for an intimate tree dedication gathering. For Fall Tree Plantings, these often occur in October or November, and for Spring Plantings, they can occur anytime after April.

Yes, we are able to support you in honoring your loved one's legacy no matter how long ago they passed or what funeral home completed their cremation.
