In loving memory of a life well lived
Edmund George Lambert
Ed was a beloved husband, accomplished lawyer, best friend, playmate, and brother. He passed peacefully beside Lee, his wife, caregiver, and life partner of 36 years. He was 84 years old.
Ed was born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Clarion State College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Ed served our country as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Armed Forces, attaining the rank of second lieutenant in the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. After his honorable service, Ed attended Villanova University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate.
Ed moved to Colorado in 1972 and lived in Evergreen for most of his life. That same year, Ed was admitted to practice law by both the Colorado Bar Association and the Colorado District Court, and by the Colorado Court of Appeals in 1984.
He began his legal career as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Lakewood, initially serving as a prosecutor and later as a civil litigator. In 1974, he established a general private practice. In 1975, he was appointed as a bankruptcy trustee for the United States Bankruptcy Court, a position he held until 1980. During that time, he also served as City Attorney for the City of Wheat Ridge.
In the early 1980s, Ed continued in private practice, concentrating primarily on real estate, bankruptcy, business law, wills and trusts, and civil litigation. Since the 1970s, he held an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating. He won major cases against Silverado Savings and Loan and United Bank. In his final years of practicing law, Ed moved his office into his home in Evergreen. Often accompanied by one or more of his adopted and adored cats, Ed focused primarily on bankruptcy, wills and estate planning, and family l aw, specializing in financial problem resolution.
While law remained a significant part of Ed’s life, his love of athletics, the outdoors, wildlife, and wild places was equally important. He was an outstanding athlete. Champion handball and tennis player, an outstanding skier, whitewater kayaker and rafter, hiker, mountain biker, as well as a passionate environmental activist.
Together, Ed and Lee lived life to the fullest. They enjoyed skiing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, scuba diving, and tennis. They traveled and played throughout beautiful Colorado, much of the western United States, Australia, Continental Europe, Mexico, and Central America.
They also held a deep commitment to environmental causes, working together with their local Sierra Club group, and established Friends of Mount Evans to protect Wilderness, wild places in their area. They registered voters and supported candidates, causes, and charities that represented their strong commitment. Together, Ed and Lee served their community throughout his life.
Anyone who knew Ed remembers his brilliant smile and blue eyes. He was always upbeat and had a zest and love for life. He is, and will continue to be, greatly missed.
Ed is survived by his wife, Lee; their adored and adopted cat, Felix; the birds and wildlife that inhabit their property; and his sister and brother, who live in Denver.
A celebration of life, reflecting Ed’s love for the outdoors, will be held in late spring 2027.
