Laura Kirkmire
November 16, 2025
Laura Kirkmire (maiden name Caster) born in Germany to Maynard and Jadienne Caster and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, was called home unexpectedly on Sunday, November 16th, 2025, passing of natural causes in her sleep.
From the time she was a young girl, horses captured her heart. That early love shaped much of her life, eventually leading her to the mountains of Evergreen, Colorado—a place where she felt most herself. There she spent many years with her three
children—Mike, Maria, and Margaret—surrounded by open space, fresh air, and the steady presence of the animals she cherished.
Laura married Richard Kirkmire, her devoted husband and partner in life. Their years together were marked by deep affection, mutual support, and the kind of companionship that brought comfort and joy to them both. She will be remembered for her kindness, willingness to listen, her sense of fun, and the way she found beauty in both people and the natural world.
Laura is preceded in death by her parents Maynard and Jadienne Caster. Her spirit lives on in her loving husband Richard Kirkmire, siblings: Michele Povich, Karen Coulter, Keiley (Sharon) Caster, children: Lawrence Michael “Mike” (Leslee) Mayers, Maria (David) Chastka, and Margaret “Maggie” (Chris) Bernard and grandchildren: Roxanne, Theodore, and Harrison Mayers, Abigail Chastka, and Benjamin and Mathew Bernard, and all who loved her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Front Range Equine Rescue - Horse Rescue Organization, honoring her lifelong connection to horses. A memorial service will be held in the spring on Sunday, May 10th, 2026 from 12-2pm at
the Evergreen Lake House in Evergreen, Colorado.
