Jennifer Kay Thomasson was born on May 4, 1956, in Kearney, Nebraska. At the age of two, her family relocated to Denver, Colorado, where she grew up alongside her two older brothers, Todd and Giles. Her parents, Beverly and Roger Poulson, nurtured her early years and supported her life journey. Jennifer graduated from George Washington High School in 1974.

On September 11, 1976, Jennifer married Tom. Together, they raised three children—Jessica, Garrett, and Andy. Their family grew to include two granddaughters, Sophie and Olivia, who brought immense joy to their lives.

Jennifer was deeply involved in her children’s lives, serving as a soccer coach and referee, supporting swim teams, and leading as President of the PTA. She was a steadfast advocate for Garrett, ensuring he received a quality education tailored to his special needs.

She was very involved in the Hampden Height’s Garden Club for over 40 years, serving several terms as president. Jennifer also had a passion for food and cooking. She loved to cook, evidenced by her large collection of cook books. She went to Culinary School and graduated in 1996. Jennifer worked in the food industry for several years and especially enjoyed her time being the front end manager of a specialty cheese and food store. Jennifer wanted to do more with her cooking skills and decided to create a business that helped disabled people learn how to shop for nutritional foods and how to prepare meals for themselves. Jennifer was also involved for Share our Strength program where chefs taught classes for kids helping them make smart nutritional decisions.

Jennifer was extremely interested in other people, their lives, stories and experiences. She was always going out of her way to meet new people and learn as much as she could about them. Jennifer was loving and compassionate.

Jennifer and Tom had a second home in Grand Lake and spent several years enjoying the spring, summer and falls, boating, hiking and foraging for mushrooms. They built a home together there working tireless hours completing the home.

Jennifer’s two granddaughters lived in Grand Lake and Jennifer spend countless time watching the grandchildren while their parents worked. Jennifer was an avid reader, participating in a book club where deep friendships evolved.

Jennifer and Tom loved to travel, going to Italy, biking Tuscany and Umbria; going to Spain and Morocco taking cooking classes and immersing themselves in the culture and food experiences. Jennifer’s most memorable trip was to Japan where she appreciated the culture, respect of others, safety and the ease of traveling throughout the country.

In 2022 Jennifer was diagnosed with the crippling disease of ALS. She fought 3 long years and after realization that her time with this current life was coming to close. She pursued MAiD’s while she still had control of her life and her decisions. It was the most courageous decision she ever made in her life. We pray for her to have a healthy and long lasting relationship in her next adventure.
